In Brief
This timeline tracks major developments from the beginning of close France-Iran ties after World War II to the present. Relations between Iran and France were established in the 13th century after France became an important power in the region. Since then, the two countries have maintained and developed their links. Iran’s history has been shaped not only by forces in the region, but also by their interactions with other countries, including France, which is the focus of this report.
